ABOUT

I've spent over 20 years on some of the biggest TV shows in three countries, Farmer Wants a Wife in Norway, MasterChef in the UK, Real Housewives in Australia. All of them are shows about real people, not actors. Twenty years of making someone look and sound their best on camera when they've never been in front of one before.

Audiences have moved since then, and so have I. What draws me to phone-first content is the format: shorter, punchier, and far more personal than anything television allowed.

Let's be honest,  most of us research before we buy, and polished product photos and headshots don't build the trust that a founder talking to camera does. That's what I make: engaging video that isn't polished to the point it loses authenticity.

I'm launching my business and looking to build long-lasting client relationships.

PLANNING

Before we film anything, we work out what you're going to say — script, structure, shots. Usually a phone call followed up by some emails.

You bring the expertise; I shape it into something people will watch. The insight has to be genuinely yours, that's what earns trust — but you won't be improvising on the day. You'll know exactly what you're saying before the camera comes out of the bag. And don’t worry about doing multiple takes to get it right – I do them all the time.

FILMING

I come to you, with everything needed to make your business look its best:

  • Proper lighting - up to three lights, so you look sharp and considered rather than lit by whatever's overhead.

  • A 6K camera - enough resolution to pull two framings from a single take, so we shoot faster and the finished video cuts between angles instead of sitting on one flat shot.

  • Broadcast-quality microphones - bad audio is the fastest way to lose a viewer, and it's the thing most self-shot video gets wrong.

  • A teleprompter - because remembering lines is hard, even short ones. You read, it looks natural, nobody can tell.

EDITING

Then I take it away and finish it properly:

  • Edited to length, cut for pace

  • Captions - most people watch on mute, so these aren't optional

  • Music, effects and colour where they serve the video

  • Full sound mix

You get finished vertical videos, ready to upload straight to whichever platform you use, within two working days and with one round of changes included.

We'll usually get 3-5 videos out of a first session — and once you're comfortable on camera, double that. Expect a session to take 2 hours including setup and pack-up.

FAQ

What makes a good reel?

Most reels that work follow the same four beats:

  1. Hook: a bold claim, a moment, a result, or a sharp question. You've got about three seconds.

  2. Setup: frame the problem or the tension, and hint at where this is going.

  3. Payoff: deliver on the hook. Give them the insight you promised.

  4. Close: land the takeaway, loop back to the hook, or point to what's next.

The payoff is where reels live or die. Value content gives your audience something real: it solves a problem, teaches a skill, tells an honest story, or entertains — without trying to make an immediate sale. It's what brings people back, and it's what builds trust in you and your brand.

Keep it to one idea. Less is more.

Don't open with "hello," your name, or your company name. People decide whether to keep watching in the first three seconds, and a greeting is more than enough to lose them — your handle and caption already say who you are.

Substance beats volume. A reel with nothing useful in it doesn't just get skipped; it makes people less inclined to give your next one a chance.

Structure alone won't save a reel that's hard to watch, either. Muddy audio, a shaky frame or slack pacing lose people as fast as a weak hook — and since most viewers watch on mute, captions aren't optional. Get the craft right and the good ideas actually land.

Why script reels?

Because to simply start talking to camera or being interviewed can take hours with very little yield, and to edit it takes even longer. A script gets you fewer takes, a shorter shoot and a faster turnaround. It also keeps the reel disciplined: one idea, to time, without the ums and the tangents. If you're worried about sounding stiff, most of your favourite creators are reading from a teleprompter and you've never noticed. Nobody minds, as long as the content is worth watching.

Can I use AI to write my scripts?

Yes, and it'll speed things up enormously, but treat it as a first draft, not a final one.

A prompt I use:

Write a script for a social media post about the benefits of [your business or product]. It needs to hook in [your type of client] and be engaging. Max 45 seconds.

Then ask for more versions, each focusing on something different. You'll get plenty of ideas. Only use the ones you actually believe, and rewrite the words into something you'd naturally say out loud, it's your genuine insight that holds an audience, and you know your business better than any model does. Happy to help with scripts. Get in touch to discuss.
